United States – Pfizer applied for an emergency approval from the US Food and Drug Administration this past Friday.
In a news release, Pfizer had announced a 95% effective COVID-19 vaccine while Moderna claims 94.5% effectiveness with their version of the vaccine.
According to Pulmonologist, Federico Vallejo, the duration of vaccine immunity has yet to be reported.
“That’s not only the immunity you have, but you also have the cellular immunity from your lymphocytes and killer bee cells that can be much longer,” says Vallejo.
“Studies show eight to nine months or one year of immunity. We just don’t know yet how long the vaccination immunity will last.”
