EDINBURG- The School of Social Work will host a wellness series in partnership with Active Minds at UTRGV to observe National Suicide Prevention Month.
The series of events will be from noon to 1 p.m. every Thursday throughout this month, through Zoom.
UTRGV Clinical Associate Professor Enedina Enriquez offers advice for those who are struggling to seek help and ways to help someone during a hard time.
“In reality it’s OK if you don’t know what to say,” Enriquez said. “You don’t have to be a professional at all to be able to help save a life, or to even help encourage someone and motivate them to get some help, and it’s just as simple as saying ‘Hey, how are you really doing? Tell me the truth because I noticed a change.’”
The workshop of the wellness series will discuss anxiety and depression, suicide prevention and how to help yourself or someone else. The event will be open to faculty, staff and students.
