EDINBURG – The UTRGV Student Health Services is now offering free Influenza vaccines to students, faculty, and staff members.
“The flu vaccine is a vaccine that comes out every year. The current one is a quadrivalent it’s 21-22 season formula because they modify it every year basically depending on what was in Australia last year will be here this year,” said Glenn Gray, Director of U-T-Health Centers and Registered Nurse at UTRGV.
Dr. Scott Spear, Medical Director for Student and Employee Health and Associate Director of Pediatrics at UTRGV, shared more on how the influenza spreads.
“Coughing, sneezing, secretion. It can be spread from surfaces where somebody has coughed or sneezed on if you’ve touched them and then you touch your nose, your eyes, our mouth in the same way it could also be spread through droplets in the air,” said Dr. Spear.
