Rio Grande Valley – The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has stated that Daylight Savings may actually negatively impact your health due to the sunlight.
The CDC explains that the extra hour added during Daylight Savings time “can lead to sleep deprivation and reduction in performance, increasing the risk for mistakes including vehicle crashes.”
“It affects me mentally because I just start getting tired,” says UTRGV Alumni Erik Maldonado.
“Even though it’s still technically early because it’s barely six, you know, but you see darkness, your body thinks oh it’s nighttime time to go to sleep, start getting tired.”
