South Padre Island– Food truck owners are fighting for an opportunity to do business on South Padre Island.
This past December, a judge ruled some items on the city’s food truck ordinance unconstitutional. However, the city has announced they are appealing the order.
“We always had thoughts about going to the island, because it is a big tourist spot, but then we learned about Surfive and their denial of a permit, and we learned about the caps on food trucks and a requirement of a restaurant signature.” says Chile de Arbol food truck owner, Ramses Avalos.
As they await the appeal process, the Avalos brothers plan to continue serving the Brownsville community and hope to expand to the upper valley and eventually, South Padre Island.
