EDINBURG – A group of UTRGV professors are “Bridging the Way” after receiving a five-year grant.
The “Bridging the Way” project received a $625 thousand grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services and the Center for Mental Health Services.
This eight-hour training program aims to train school personnel on how to identify signs of mental illness and the resources available.
“We work in the college of education at UTRGV where we train teachers, we train school psychologists, we train counselors, and so we are also able to provide this training to those students so that they are better equipped,” said Dr. Nancy P. Razo, Co-project Director for Bridging the Way.
Dr. Razo also mentioned that UTRGV’s Counseling Center is available for all students that seek help.
