RIO HONDO – Rio Hondo Independent School District has received $25,000 worth of new advanced reading books for all grade levels. This comes after data analysis showed that online learning caused a drop in reading and math scores.
“We test our students and find out what their reading level is, then we put that student in what is called a zone approximate development, which is if they read inside this particular zone, they will have the greatest development in their reading,” said Raul Trevino, Assistant Superintendent of Academics for Rio Hondo ISD.
The school district will also be implementing more after school activities for students like coding and using drones.
