EDINBURG – The UTRGV Women’s Basketball team remains focused as it concludes its 2024-2025 season and gears up for the conference tournament.
The Vaqueros made history with their win over Nicholls State on Feb. 22, setting a program record with 10 conference victories in a single season as of last Friday.
The team wrapped up its season with a loss against the University of New Orleans 72-59.
Demonstrating dedication throughout the season, the Vaqueros were highlighted by standout performances from junior forward Charolette O’Keeffe and freshman guard Elizabeth Romer.
Head coach Lane Lord reached a milestone, securing his 85th victory and tying Larry Tidwell for the most wins in program history.
Lord said the team has to stay healthy and be mentally strong going into the tournament.
“We’re at the end of the year now where its more mental l and physical we’ve been going since June and we’re tired. Everybody’s tired. The team’s tired.” Lord said.
With the Southland Conference Tournament approaching, the Vaqueros are set for postseason play, aiming for a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
