Desiree Villanueva EDINBURG – The Robert and Janet Vackar Stadium was announced almost a year ago, but renovations are still ongoing.
With the set H-E-B Park Foundation, UTRGV plans to add 2,000 more bleacher seats in the south end zone, bringing the total seating capacity to nearly 12,000.
The stadium will feature premium suites, a dedicated student section, and plans for future tailgating events.
UTRGV Athletics Director Chasse Conque gives insight into the stadium’s upgrades.
“It takes a village, and everyone in our staff we are all part of our design constructions we really get into the bells and whistles to make sure everything is UTRGV spirit that we want it too have and carry over what we have here on our campuses,” said Conque.
