Tristen Cortez EDINBURG – UT Health Rio Grande Valley and Talk About It Texas hosted Mas Amor: A Self-Care Celebration event in the Edinburg ballroom last Tuesday.
The celebration featured tables from on and off-campus organizations, such as the UREC and Texas Rising, providing information about taking care of one’s body and mind.
Students in attendance played games and participated in group activities to express themselves and unwind.
Program coordinator for Talk About It Texas Vianca Vieyra says that being able to de-stress is crucial as a developing student.
“A lot of times we go, go, go because we feel like we need to,” Vieyra said. “But we don’t take care of ourselves, taking a step back, respecting our bodies, respecting our minds […] these services that we have here today can help with that.”
Talk About It Texas will host more events throughout the school year for student health at UTRGV.
