Edinburg, TEXAS – UTRGV hired its first head football coach Travis Bush to tackle its first football season.
Coach Bush has a notable career, serving not only college football but also high school and one season with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills.
Coach bush says he is excited to help build the team, taking his experience building UTSA’s inaugural football team and using it to help UTRGV.
“It was pretty cool, pretty humbling… it’s just amazing cause I know the valley, the support down here. They love football and they are really going to rally around this program,” said Bush
According to coach Bush, the Vaqueros are set to kick off their 2025 season at H-E-B Park in Edinburg, with already 1,000 season tickets sold.
Criminal justice major, Max de la Fuente expresses his joy about UTRGV’s next big event.
“I mean that is pretty cool that it’s actually coming down to the valley because we don’t really have a football team and all that,” said De la Fuente
Coach bush mentions that he has been actively recruiting throughout Texas and is excited about the team and coaching staff soon to come.
Coach bush adds that he’s looking forward to the student body having a true campus life with the band, dance, and tailgating.
