EDINBURG- UTRGV opened new drive-thru COVID-19 testing sites after the surge of positive cases in the valley.
Linda Nelson, Senior Director of Clinical Operations and Doctor for U-T Health-R-G-V, says the spread of the Omicron and Delta variant has led to the reopening of testing sites. Doctor Nelson added that there is an increase in a need for COVID-19 testing and enough supplies to meet the demand.
“There are many different strategies that we can employ uh to really achieve that goal of cutting transmissions rates in the community, one of those really important parts of that strategy is testing.” said Michael Lehker, Dean of College of Health professions.
Drive thru testing will remain open to the public from Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm in the Edinburg UTRGV CESS parking lot. To make an appointment, call (833) 888-2268.
