RIO GRANDE VALLEY – Local doctors continue to make progress with a new vaccine to fight COVID-19 as they enter phase three of the clinical trial. Many people hope to have the vaccine ready within months, while others remain uncertain about the vaccine.
Dr. Federico Vallejo, a pulmonologist at McAllen Medical Center, says that the process is still being expedited to see if the vaccine is going to have any adverse effects, but that educating the community about the potential effects is still very important. “Vaccines do not cause autism. Some studies have shown that there is not a relationship between vaccination and autism. Second, it is not going to affect your DNA,” stated Vallejo.
