Police Reports: 10-7-19

utrgvtv October 8, 2019

Here’s this week’s police reports released to us by UTRGV PD this past week:

On September 30 at 10:53 a.m., an officer and Edinburg Fire Department were dispatched to location in reference to two students that were stuck in the elevator in the Student Academic Center.  The power to the elevator had to be turned off and students were able to exit through the top of the elevator car. No injuries were reported.

That same day at 4:07 p.m., a UTRGV PD dispatcher observed a male individual heading north towards University Blvd. in Brownsville, via the border cameras. U.S. Border Patrol arrived at location and took custody of the male individual from Mexico who had crossed illegally without incident.

On October 1 at 9:38 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Health Affairs Building West in reference to an intoxicated male student. Officers made contact with the male student who stated that he had consumed some alcoholic beverages before class. The student did show signs of intoxication and was released to a family member at the scene.  This incident will be referred to Student Rights and Responsibilities for further review.

On October 2 at 7:32 a.m., a UTRGV PD dispatcher observed three male individuals running north on Levee Road from the U.S. border fence via the border cameras in Brownsville. UTRGV officers were dispatched to the location as well as US Border Patrol.  After conducting a search of the surrounding areas, the individuals were located and detained by USBP. All three subjects were Mexican nationals.

That same day at 9:03 a.m., a female student reported that an unknown male she was briefly conversing with at the library in Edinburg touched her lower back without her consent.  She felt the touch to be offensive/provocative. Case is under investigation.
