A new scholarship for aspiring college filmmakers is happening right now.
“Lone Survivor” Producer Jason Shuman and Zachary Green from “Spartan” created “LAUNCH,” a new million dollar screenplay competition for college students. The competition will give 8 finalists one-hundred thousand dollar grants each. The grand-prize winner will receive a production budget of at least one-million dollars for his or her script to become a feature.
Luis Cantu-Cabrera is a senior majoring in Theatre. He said that more UTRGV film students should chase after their dreams, because it’s like “chasing after a chance.”
The competition is open to college students world-wide.
Zack Rodriguez, another UTRGV senior in the TV/Film track, says that film students from the Valley should apply to the competition to show the world what makes them unique.
If you or someone you know might be interested in applying for the scholarship, head on over to the official LAUNCH website. The deadlines are quickly approaching. Submissions for the screenplay competition will be accepted no later than April 30th.
