Edinburg- The countless parking struggles students face on a daily basis while attending UTRGV may be alleviated with temporary parking lot counters.
“What I mean about the pilot program is that, it’s at no cost to us right now,” said Pablo Aguilar, Director of Parking Services. “We are working with a third party vendor that supplied these signs for us and this system for us to try it out and if we see that it meets what we are looking for, we will possibly implement this as a more permanent system.”
As for choosing where the testing will take place lot E9 was chosen.
“Lot E9 was selected because of it’s one of our biggest parking lots and it’s only a test. It’s a pilot program that we’re doing so we were only given that one option,” said Aguilar.
With the new pilot program in place, UTRGV’s Parking and Transportation services will be testing the new parking lot counters specifically in lot E9 for 45 days.
