MCALLEN – The Inclusive Park at Blanca E. Sanchez Elementary is a project started by the Capable Kids Foundation two years ago that opened on January 6.
Some of the things available to the community is rubber surface flooring for children with mobility issues to easily access the playground. This park also has an HEB marketplace that has braille for the visually impaired.
“We’re normalizing disability and eliminating social stigmas. They grow up together knowing that is was inclusive from the beginning.” said Marissa Pulido Pecina, Inclusive Play Specialist and Pediatrics Speech Language Pathologist.
Since this playground is a school-city park, it is available after school hours on weekdays from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. and on weekends from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
