Edinburg- Since 2008, FESTIBA has been a week-long celebration of arts and culture.
This year the event focuses on literacy and cultural heroes, including faculty in the arts and archeology and people that have made an impact in the UTRGV community.
Over 4,2000 students were invited to meet book authors and learn about the Underground Railroad in Texas.
“All of these are opportunities for the students to realize that they have talent and that they can be creative, that they can tell their stories in different ways. And also to be very proud of their cultural background,” said Dr. Dahlia Guerra, Assistant Vice President of Public Arts.
FESTIBA is a platform that allows students and faculty to showcase their work and special projects.
FESTIBA ends with a community festival and a mariachi competition.
