RIO GRANDE VALLEY –
CAMERON COUNTY— As of 11:19 p.m., with 20% of precincts reporting, unofficial results show a narrow presidential race in Hidalgo County between Republican Donald J. Trump, who has a 1.05% lead over Democrat Kamala Harris.
Nationwide, Trump led the race.
For Texas U.S Senator race, Democratic challenger Colin Allred was in the lead among Hidalgo County voters with 53% of the votes while Republican incumbent Ted Cruz received about 45% of votes.
Statewide, Cruz led the race with about 55% of the votes while Allred garnered 43%.
In the District 15 U.S. Representative race, Republican incumbent Monica De La Cruz outpaced Democratic challenger Michelle Vallejo with about 58% of the votes. In Hidalgo County, Vallejo received about 52% of the votes while De La Cruz had about 48%.
Democrat incumbent Vicente Gonzalez led the District 34 U.S. Representative race with about 55% of the votes while Republican challenger Mayra Flores collected about 45%.
CAMERON COUNTY—As of 10:35 p.m., with all precincts reporting, unofficial results show Trump winning with 53% of votes and Harris with 47% of votes in Cameron County.
In the Texas U.S. Senator race in Cameron County, Democrat Colin Allred led with 51% of votes while Republican incumbent Ted Cruz received about 47%.
For the U.S. Representative District 34 race, it was a tight race between Republican challenger Mayra Flores and Democrat incumbent Vicente Gonzalez, who led the race in the county with .44% of votes.
According to the Texas Secretary of State, Gonzalez was leading with about 52% of votes while Flores had about 48%.
In the State Senator District 27 race, Democrat incumbent Morgan LaMantia and Republican challenger Adam Hinojosa were head to head. Cameron County voters gave LaMantia the edge with about 52% of the votes while Hinojosa garnered about 45%. However, the Texas Secretary of State website showed Hinojosa in the lead with about 50% of votes compared to LaMantia’s 48%.
